We are excited to announce the completion of Phase 1 of the Hangar Doors project at Greenbrier Valley Airport in Lewisburg, West Virginia!
What is K-Con doing at Green Valley Airport?
The project involves replacing three airplane hangar doors. We will demolish the existing pavement and remaining door connections. Then, we will begin constructing new concrete foundations to support the rolling steel door systems and pre-engineered metal building door enclosure structures. This will connect the new trusses, framework, and doors to the existing pre-engineered metal building hangars. In the final phase of the project, we have partnered with Assa Abloy. They will erect the steel for the door enclosures and install the rolling hangar doors.
What was completed in Phase 1?
Phase 1 involved demolishing the existing asphalt pavement. Next, we installed the first of three cast-in-place foundations, each measuring 130 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 3 feet deep, to support the new doors and enclosures. Finally, we installed the hangar door rails, the rail heating system, and the rail drainage system, and completed the final pour of the foundations.
When does K-Con start Phase 2?
Phase 2 is scheduled to begin in September 2023. The project will involve erecting structural steel framing and trusses for the hangar door enclosures, installing metal wall panels and standing seam roof panels, and setting up new rolling hangar doors and their associated operators. Stay tuned for the final reveal of the three new hangar doors at Greenbrier Valley Airport!
