K-Con is growing, and we are looking for an experienced Assistant Project Manager to join our team! This is a full-time traveling position; location dependent on project assignment and may not be reflected in job posting. *

Location: Various states, home office in Charleston, SC

 

Job Summary:

As an Assistant Project Manager, you’ll support the Project Manager in executing Federal and local construction projects. This role involves coordinating activities, managing subcontractors and suppliers, and ensuring timely, budget-compliant, and high-quality project completion. It’s a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in project management within the construction industry.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing construction projects, including planning, coordinating with teams, and monitoring progress.
  • Maintain project documentation and communicate updates effectively.
  • Support budget development and cost monitoring.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and participate in quality inspections.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-5 years of construction project management experience.
  • Knowledge of construction processes and materials.
  • Familiarity with federal construction requirements is a plus.
  • Proficiency in project management software (Primavera P6 or MS Project preferred).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

Some of your responsibilities:

  • Incredible, upfront, honest, and open communication with our clients, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, and teammates

  • Monitor and issue progress updates as needed regarding costs and timelines
  • Help select and manage subcontractor and supplier relationships

K-Con is growing, and we are looking for an experienced Pre-Construction Manager / Estimator to join our team! This is a full-time traveling position; location dependent on project assignment and may not be reflected in job posting. *

Location: Various states, home office in Charleston, SC

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead pre-construction phases: estimating, value engineering, constructability reviews, and subcontractor prequalification.
  • Manage and mentor estimators, providing technical guidance.
  • Conduct cost analysis for accurate, competitive bids.
  • Develop bid strategies to maximize profitability.
  • Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to meet project requirements.
  • Recruit, train, and manage estimating team.
  • Identify risks and opportunities, providing mitigation recommendations.
  • Implement process improvements and stay updated on industry trends.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field; Master’s or certifications preferred.
  • 7-10 years in construction estimating and pre-construction management.
  • Experience with Design-Build projects in Commercial, Light Industrial, and Federal sectors.
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (Procore, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff) and MS Office.
  • Knowledge of federal contracting regulations is a plus.

  • Professionally represent K-Con.
  • Participate in owner’s meetings and regular staff meetings.
  • Read and interpret architectural, civil, and engineering plans and specifications.
  • Maintain Certification in CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Identify and manage Subcontractors, material, and equipment requirements.
  • Effectively utilize, communicate, update, and manage project schedule.
  • Promote and enforce Safety Rules and Regulations.
  • Hold weekly Safety Meetings.
  • Implement and monitor site-specific Safety Plan (Accident Prevention, Environmental Plan, CQC Plan, etc.).
  • Conduct weekly subcontractor meetings to ensure the project is on schedule without complications.

Requirements:

  • Computer skills using MS Office and Outlook.
  • Have a firm grasp of fundamental principles and concepts in the construction profession.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED or greater

Experience:

  • Experience as a lead superintendent on projects ranging from $1 Million – $10+ Million.

License/Certifications:

  • Valid Drivers License
  • CPR Certification – K-Con will provide training
  • First Aid Certification – K-Con will provide training
  • OSHA 30 Certification – K-Con will provide training
