K-Con Named to Metallic Building Company Top 25 "M" Team

K-Con has been awarded the prestigious Metallic Builders Top 25 "M" team award for the third year in a row. This award is given to the Metallic builders with the top sales in the United States. Thanks, Metallic for your support and premier products. Good teamwork!

As a reminder....Metal buildings are a great solution for your building needs and here are just a few of the reasons why:

  • The sustainable green attributes of a metal building system with recycled content and recyclability makes them a natural choice for "going green". When you look at life cycle costs, nothing beats a pre-engineered metal building.
  • Steel building systems appeal to architects and owners because they allow for cost-effective design versatility.
  • Metal buildings can be provided in a short period of time and at a very competitive price.
  • Metal buildings can be insulated to achieve extremely high R-values.
  • The spanning capacity of a metal building is significantly more than that of a wood, concrete or even a conventionally framed structure. This results in much more flexibility concerning floor space. Customizable column locations and depths offer adaptability to most floor plans.
  • The in-house engineering capability of the manufacturer sets the metal building model apart from the traditional construction process. This allows for value-engineer the metal building system and saving the owner material and labor cost over a less efficient alternative.

Simply put, Metal Buildings Rock!

Retrofit Roof Systems as a replacement for flat built up roof systems

The standing seam metal roof is one of the most exciting breakthroughs in roofing technology in the last 25 years. K-Con has the expertise and experience to design a replacement for that leaking flat roof and offer a maintenance free roof 20 years and beyond. An engineered sub framing system would be installed over the old built up roof creating the slope with metal roof panels fastened to the sub framing by concealed fastener clips. The new roof can be fitted with insulation to improve the building energy efficiency from the day of installation. The retrofit metal roof will be weathertight as water will run off of the newly created slope and the concealed fasteners reduce the panel penetration. The retrofit roof will have superior durability due to metal panel steel and the concealed fasteners ability to resist the damaging effects of thermal movement. Kynar panels can be used that will provide enhanced performance, color retention, and durability.

Metal Buildings and fall protection

K-Con is a safety first company and that means going that extra mile to ensure that all employees and subcontractors working on the jobsite are protected. When buildings have a high eave height, it is important to protect the roof installers. This is done by installing fall prevention material on top of the purlins. Fall Protection costs extra in both labor and material and is often not listed in specification documents, though it is recommended for buildings 20’ or higher. For high eave buildings, K-Con often uses a product Purlin Glide FP ™ as leading edge fall protection and this product acts as a passive safety device for those working on the roof. This product is used in conjunction with insulation support systems. There are more aggressive fall protection products available that look similar to bird netting and these products are also installed over the purlins.
